<div itemprop="description">DICKSON, (David) Russell<br />December 8, 1929 - July 20, 2015<br /><br />It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Russell Dickson, loved husband, father, and Papa, on Monday, July 20, 2015. <br /><br />He was predeceased by his parents, David and Hannah Dickson, sisters Jean Dickson and Joyce Tetachuk, and brothers Ronald and Douglas Dickson. He lost his sweetheart and wife of 60 years, Shirley Ann (nee Wray) in 2010. Russell will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Patricia Dickson and Margaret (Herbert) Longworth and beloved granddaughters Stephanie, Andrea, and Meghan. <br /><br />Russell was born in Eckville, Alberta and his favourite years were spent growing up in the Rockies. When he retired from the Alberta Liquor Control Board, he and Shirley shared many wonderful trips. His favourite adventure was a safari in Africa. He respected and valued every creature, great or small. While we mourn his passing we know that he is in the company and care of Shirley once again. <br /><br />In keeping with Russell&rsquo;s love for animals, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Calgary Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice. An Afternoon of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at LEYDEN&rsquo;S FUNERAL HOME (corner of 17th Avenue &amp; 2nd Street SW) at 1:00 p.m. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting leydens.com .<br /><br /></div>
