Edith Taylor
July 29, 1935 - December 24, 2015
TAYLOR, Edith “Norma”
1935 – 2015
Norma Taylor passed away peacefully on December 24, 2015 at Whitehorn Village Retirement Community in Calgary, Alberta surrounded by her loving family and the lovely angels at the residence.
Norma was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba to John and Isabel Hughes, but fell in love with Calgary on a trip to visit her brother when she was 17 years old and moved here permanently.
Norma is survived by her daughter Debbie, sons John (Katherine) and Bill (Karen), granddaughter Carla (Mark), grandson Eric, great-granddaughter Lydia, brother Jack Hughes, nieces Terry, Shawna and Sandra and their families. She was predeceased by her mother and father, twin sister Sheila, brother-in-law Marlon, sister-in-law Dorothy and husband Bill.
Norma worked at TransAlta before getting married and returned after her family was grown, rising to the position of Executive Assistant to the division leader. Always artistic, Norma took up decorative painting, loved to crochet, read, sew, putter in the garden and all things Coronation Street including becoming one of the founding members of Calgary’s fan club for the show. One of her greatest joys was a trip to Manchester and a private visit with a small world-wide group of fans to the outdoor set.
Special thanks to the wonderful people at Whitehorn Village Retirement Community for their help and support to our family and their very special care and relationship with our mother.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on January 5, 2016 at LEYDEN’S CHAPEL OF REMEMBRANCE (corner of 17th Avenue & 2nd Street SW) at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome in her name to Whitehorn Village Retirement Community (5200 - 44 Ave N.E., Calgary AB T1Y 7L4). We will miss you Mom. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting leydens.com .
