It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loved one, Emily Balog of Calgary, AB on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the age of 47 years.
Emily was born on July 17, 1968 in Pancevo, Yugoslavia to Maria and Mihaly Balog. Emily grew up as a child in Novi Sad and moved to Canada in 1982 as a teenager. She graduated from John Diefenbaker High School and then continued her studies by completing an Early Childhood Education Diploma at Mount Royal College. Emily loved working with children, travelling, dancing, her dogs, and spending quality time with her family.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her parents Maria and Mihaly (Mike) Balog; loving brother Csaba, and sister-in-law Tanya; her grandmother Ester Apci; her aunt Etko from California; uncles Steve from Edmonton and Josef (Hilda) from Pancevo; and her wonderful cousins, Heidi and Jozef (Joey, Dennis), Reka (Isabel and Lincoln), Attila and Karen (Jacob, Noah and Natalie), Bottond and Ingrid, Agnes and Akos; the Balog, Kosara, Antal, Varga and Burjan families.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Visitation on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at LEYDEN’S CHAPEL OF REMEMBRANCE (corner of 17th Avenue & 2nd Street SW) from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m.
Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Bertalan Bocskorás, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Emily's memory may be made to The Children’s Wish Foundation (Alberta and NWT Chapter), www.childrenswish.ca/en-ab/ .
