OLSEN, Mel P.
July 22, 1949 - July 11, 2015

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mel P. Olsen on Saturday, July 11, 2015 while serving at Lakeshore Bible Camp in St. Malo, Manitoba.

Born on July 22, 1949 to Kenneth and Eva Olsen, Mel was the 4th of 5 children. He was predeceased by his first wife Joanell Olsen and will be sadly missed by his loving wife Connie Olsen, his two sons, Brent and Brad Olsen, and daughter-in-law Lela Olsen. He is also loved greatly by his two brothers and two sisters, Glenna (Glen) Bowden, Malcolm (Carol) Olsen, Esther (Ed) Morgan, Dave (Judy) Olsen along with many nieces and nephews.

Mel was born in Newmarket, Ontario, moving to Alberta in 1972. He worked for the City of Calgary Electric system (later Enmax power) for 38 years. His passion was his faith in God and love for others, continually giving of himself to the people and places where he found himself. Much of Mel’s life was spent serving and volunteering in his Church and through Christian camps. His bright smile and quick humour left a mark on all he met.

A celebration of Mel’s life will take place on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at CALGARY FIRST CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE (65 Richard Way SW) at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mel’s honour would be gratefully received by Lakeshore Bible Camp (214 Henderson Hwy, Winnipeg, MB R2L 1L9). Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting leydens.com .
