<div itemprop="description">WORON, Paraskevia (Pearl) <br /> <br />September 28, 1923 - Trubytsi, Ukraine <br /> <br />December 8, 2013 - Calgary, Alberta <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the sudden passing of Pearl Woron on Sunday, December 8th, 2013 at her home in Calgary. Pearl was born on September 28th, 1923 in Trubytsi, Ukraine, daughter of Natalia and Sergai Karakaletsia . She is predeceased by her brothers, Petro and Vasyl; and sister Maria. Taken from her family to Germany in World War II to work in a factory in Klain Auhaim, it was there that she met her love Mykola (Nick) Woron. The couple were married and lived in a displaced persons camp where son Walter was born. The family immigrated to Canada in 1949 and settled in the Lethbridge region welcoming daughter Maria. One of her proudest moments was becoming a Canadian citizen in 1954. The family moved to Calgary and welcomed daughter Zena, eventually settling in the house she would call home for the rest of her life. <br /> <br />Pearl was active in the Ukrainian Canadian community and the parish of St. Vladimir&rsquo;s Orthodox Church. She served for many years on the ladies&rsquo; auxiliary and enjoyed gardening, baking and entertaining in her free time. Pearl was proud of her family and is survived by her husband Nick; son Walter (Joyce); daughters, Maria (Bob) and Zena (Rod). She loved her grandsons and their families: Kevin (Marie), Cory (Charlene), Dan, David, Allen and Kenny and was a loving great-grandmother to Cooper, Brady, Alex and Veronica. Prayer services will be held at St. Vladimir&rsquo;s Ukrainian Orthodox Church (404 Meredith Road NE) on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the same location on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace.
