<div itemprop="description">DEVENIS, Petras <br /> <br />Mr. Petras Devenis passed away on Friday, September 6, 2013 at the age of 90. He was the beloved father of Peter (Gloria) Devenis and Alma (Bruce) Eamer. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Tyler, Meghan, Shawn and Corey Devenis and Derek and Jaclyn Eamer. He is also survived by numerous cousins and dear friends in his homeland of Lithuania. Petras was predeceased by his mother in 1926, his one sister Katre in 1948 and his father in 1956, all of Lithuania. He was predeceased by Eleonora, his wife of 44 years, in 1995. <br /> <br />Petras was born in Buginiai, Lithuania and worked on the family farm until the war. Following World War II, he lived and worked in Italy and Germany and in 1947 he moved to England where he met and married Eleonora, also from Lithuania, in 1951. In 1956 he immigrated to Canada and worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway in Calgary for almost thirty years until his retirement. <br /> <br />Petras was an active member of the Lithuanian Canadian Community and past-President of the Community Calgary Branch. For the past 8 years he was a resident of Hawkwood Dreamview Village where he made many dear and close friends who supported him and with whom he enjoyed many great times and activities. <br /> <br />Petras especially took pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren, playing with them; attending numerous amounts of their sports activities and watching them grow up. He enjoyed fishing, entertaining friends and family, gardening and watching football and hockey. <br /> <br />The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Belenkie and the staff of Foothills Medical Centre and the Libin Cardiovascular Institute for their exemplary care, compassion, humor and concern. <br /> <br />Prayers will be held at Leyden's Chapel of Remembrance (corner of 17th Avenue and 2nd Street SW) on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Funeral Service will also be held at LEYDEN&rsquo;S on Friday, September 13, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Calgary SPCA. Interment to follow at Mountainview Memorial Gardens. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting leydens.com. <br /></div>
