Robert MacKenzie
May 27, 1928 - December 7, 2015
MacKENZIE, Robert Alexander
1928 - 2015
Robert Alexander Mackenzie, the last surviving member of the clan MacKenzie of Craik, Saskatchewan, died on Monday, December 7, 2015.
Robert was predeceased by his father Donald and his dear mother Beatrice; his elder brother Donnie (his mentor and friend during his misspent youth); his brother Kenneth and wife Jean (who always made everyone welcome at the farm); his brother Johnny (his childhood pal and protector) and his dear, sweet sister Beatrice.
Robert married the love of his life, Aileen Wilson of Regina, SK, on August 30, 1952. They established their first home in housekeeping rooms, in Moose Jaw, SK, but like a lot of Saskatchewan people in those days, pulled up stakes and immigrated to Alberta and settled in Calgary; they made many new and lasting friends and built their first and only home on Kerrydale Road; raised three caring children: Carolyn Hellmer, Angus MacKenzie (Alexis) and Donald MacKenzie (Jennifer). Aileen died on May 29, 2011, thus ending a love affair that lasted well over sixty years.
No formal funeral service will be held, but the memories can last forever and may be rejuvenated by visiting their chosen spot at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens, just over the rolling hills, west of Calgary. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting leydens.com .
