<div itemprop="description">HALE, William Arnold <br>August 4, 1930 - April 8, 2017 <br> <br>William Arnold Hale passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre on April 8, 2017, comforted by his family and wife Geraldine. <br><br>Billy was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on August 4, 1930. He learned the value of hard work at a young age helping his father William and mother Mary run the family homestead and transport business in Herb Lake, Manitoba, later named Hale's Landing. He was educated at ST. Johns High School in Winnipeg where he loved playing football, rugby and hockey.<br><br> Billy met and married Merne, his first wife, soon after starting their family. They moved to Calgary where Billy began contracting his truck with the City of Calgary; he was proud to say he never missed a day's work in 44 years. He was also an accomplished baker graduating first in his class at SAIT. He loved ballroom dancing and together with his long time square dance partner and dear friend Frances Kramer they danced together in the 1988 Olympics. <br><br>Billy will be greatly missed by his sister Beth, children Bruce (Rajni), David, Jamie (Doug), Greg (Franca), Kathy and stepson Jake. He will also be remembered by grandchildren, Janell (Tyler) David, Jennifer (Roger), Mark, Brandon, William (Billy), Joshua and great-grandchildren Andi and Linden. <br><br>Thanks to all the Medical staff at the Foothills Medical Centre, Unit 47 and the many caregivers who enabled Billy to live out his life in his home. <br><br>A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Parkdale United Church, 2919 - 8 Ave NW at 1:30 p.m. Private interment for immediate family will be held at Queens Park Cemetery preceding the funeral service.</div>
