WINTERS, William (Bill) Herbert
October 5, 1952 - January 5, 2016

Bill was born in Edmonton, Alberta to Darlene Adele Hamilton and William Arthur Winters. “Billy” was a role model and father figure to his sisters, Janis and Patti-Jean.

Bill met the love of his life, Barb, at Lord Beaverbrook High School and celebrated 43 years of marriage with her in Paris on October 28, 2015. Together, they raised three children: Stephanie, Katie, and Davis. Bill adored his 10-month old grandson, Sam. Family was everything to Bill, and he was everything to them.

He was a highly regarded lawyer, known for his brilliant mind, tremendous warmth, and exuberant personality. As a pioneer in the bicycle commuting movement, Bill was often found busy at his desk, still outfitted in his spandex. Bill had a passion for music, food, and travel. His eclectic taste and encyclopedic knowledge of each allowed him to engage people everywhere he went. He also loved the outdoors and spent hours cross country skiing, cycling, and hiking, particularly in the Weaselhead. Bill treasured the camaraderie of his golf group, "the 'Hood,” and occasionally even enjoyed playing the game.

Bill led by example. He was honest (to a fault) and expected the same of others. He approached life and relationships whole-heartedly. To him, there was no point doing something unless you gave it your all. With this ethic, Bill created countless memories with family, friends, and colleagues; we will forever cherish and hold them in our hearts.

Please join the family on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Earl Grey Golf Club (6540 20 Street SW) at 2:00 p.m. to share stories and remember this amazing man. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting leydens.com .
