A proud member of the Royal Canadian Navy, Charlie retired in 1976 after 30 years of service to his country with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. He returned to school at NSIT and received his diploma in Social Work, and then worked for the county of Halifax, Department of Social Services until he retired at age 65.

Charlie is survived by his devoted wife Joan, six children, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. His strong faith in God had a significant influence on how he lived his life and raised his family. Charlie was a kind, selfless, caring, spirited and compassionate man who taught us much about hard work, family, love and responsibility.

We will continue to grow on what Charlie has instilled in all of us. Although our hearts weep at the thought of never seeing your gentle soul again Charlie, you will live on in our memories and in our laughter. We have the best Angel possible watching over all of us!

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church (703 Heritage Dr. SW, Calgary) at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Charlie’s name.
