<div itemprop="description">HENRY RICHARD VOSS <br /> <br />July 16, 1918 - November 26, 2014 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Henry Voss of Calgary passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the age of 96 years. Henry will be lovingly remembered by his four sons, Martin (Selam), John (Diane), Charles, and Ken (Ann); his nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and all their families and his many friends. He was predeceased in 2010 by Ruth, his wife of 61 years, and by his three sisters Helen, Bertha and Marie. <br /> <br />Born in Bashaw, AB, the son of a Lutheran pastor, Henry grew up in several different areas in Alberta and Manitoba. He served his country in the Canadian Air Force during the Second World War as an aircraft mechanic. After the war, he served as a lay missionary in Papua New Guinea for 27 years, mainly in construction but also in maintenance of the mission aircraft. Following his retirement from the mission field, he worked in maintenance in Winnipeg and later in Calgary until his retirement in 1983. He and Ruth enjoyed travelling, camping and visiting with their many relatives and friends. <br /> <br />A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (243209 Garden Road NE) at 3:00 p.m. The family would like to express thanks to the following for their assistance and care of Henry: the staff at Prince of Peace Manor, the AHS Home Care staff and the staff at the Peter Lougheed Centre. If friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Prince of Peace Foundation (285030 Luther Rose Blvd, Calgary, AB, T1X1M9).
