<div itemprop="description">KOLOMIJCHUK, Joseph (Artem)<br />October 25, 1925 - May 20, 2015<br /><br /><br />It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Artem Kolomijchuk, peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 with his daughter by his side. Artem was predeceased by Olena, his loving wife of 64 years; his son Yaroslaw and infant son Yurko. He will be forever remembered by his children, Taras (Vera), Ihor (Georgia), Lesia Levytsky (Marco), daughter-in-law Irene; grandchildren, Yar (Char), Bohdan (Holly), Christine Kope (Kelly), Stefania (Yuri Prots), Paul and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Chelsea, Cailyn Kope and a new baby Kope due June 2015; as well as numerous relatives living in Ukraine. <br /><br />Artem was born in Berezne, Rivne Oblast, Ukraine. He came to Canada in May 1950 and has resided in Calgary since March 1953. Artem was employed by the City of Calgary for 34 years until his retirement in 1987. Proud of his Ukrainian heritage, Artem was a member of the O.U.N., an active founding member (Calgary Branch) of the League of Ukrainian Canadians and Ukrainian Youth Association dedicated to the development of the Ukrainian community in Canada and assisting Ukrainian people in their homeland to achieve independence. Artem was also a founding member of the Ukrainian (Calgary) Savings and Credit Union Ltd. in 1960, serving on the first Board as a Director. He loved Canada for the freedom and values that Canada exemplifies. One of Artem&rsquo;s favourite pastimes was watching the Canadian Football League action on television. <br /><br />Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (704 - 6 St NE) at 7:00 p.m. A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Fr. Michael Bohun officiating. Interment to follow at Queen&rsquo;s Park Cemetery.
