<div itemprop="description">PARKER, May Ellen <br />December 19, 1922 - December 9, 2014 <br /> <br />May was born in Saskatoon, SK on December 19, 1922 and passed away on December 9, 2014 at the age of 91. <br /> <br />May was a proud and independent woman. She became a registered nurse at Saskatoon City Hospital and in the 1950&rsquo;s completed her Bachelor of Nursing at McGill University. She also completed a Certificate in Personnel Administration at the University of Calgary. She was extremely proud to have worked at the General and Grace Hospitals in Calgary. <br /> <br />May enjoyed reading, photography, traveling and hiking. She traveled to many parts of the world, including South America, Asia and Africa. She loved the Canadian Rocky Mountains. May joined the Skyline Hikers in 1964 and became a lifetime member after supporting the organization as camp hostess and board member, including a stint as president in the 1980&rsquo;s. May loved music, especially classical and opera. She was a Calgary Opera season ticket holder since the performances began in 1973 and only stopped attending when she became too ill in 2012. <br /> <br />A special thank you to the staff of the Beverly Centre Glenmore and Edgemont Care facilities for their kindness, care and support. <br /> <br />To celebrate May&rsquo;s life, an Afternoon to Remember gathering will be held for friends and family on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at LEYDEN&rsquo;S CHAPEL OF REMEMBRANCE (corner of 17th Avenue &amp; 2nd Street SW) from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
