<div itemprop="description">TURCHET, Ursula (nee Lorek) <br>April 10, 1933 - September 17, 2016 <br> <br>Mom passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home. She was born in Berlin and lived most of her young life in Passau, Germany, the eldest of five children. <br> <br>A nurse at the local hospital, Ursula immigrated to Calgary with her young daughter Barbara in 1958. She married Lino Turchet and together they established Lila Construction, doing concrete work for many of Calgary’s early high rise buildings. They eventually left the city to take on farming, first in the Shepard area and later in Stauffer, AB, learning the tricks of the trade as they went along. <br> <br>Mom never stopped learning and, at the age of 79, she completed the Master Gardening Program at the Calgary Zoo. <br> <br>She is survived by daughters Barbara Lorek (Jim Beckerleg) and Mary (Steve) Pool, son John Turchet, her best friend Ed Howard, grandchildren Alaina (Kurt) Bosinski, Curtis Downs, Katrina Turchet (Lucas Lachambre), Brandon and Jonathan Pool and great-grandson Maks Bosinski. She is also survived by her siblings Hans Lorek, Karl Lorek and Brigitte Jobst. Mom was predeceased by Lino in 2012, by her beloved grandsons Matthew and Ryan Turchet in 2006 and her sister Annemarie Geins in 1996. <br> <br>Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at LEYDEN’S CHAPEL OF REMEMBRANCE (corner of 17th Avenue & 2nd Street SW) at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Ursula’s name to the charity of your choice.</div>
